Victory at Cleethorpes

The mini rugby section made the journey to Cleethorpes by coach full of good spirits and the under 9’s kept up the Boston reputation with a clear win in the first of two games, the score being 4-0 to Boston. Joe Busby and Sam Booth scoring two tries each. They received good support from their team mates and some excellent tackling by Peter Ward, Ben Duck, Rosey Langford and Ashley Bristow.
The second game resulted in a 1-1 draw, the try scored by Kensey Tempest, who was well supported by Brandon Crozier, Alistair Turner, Olivia Haigh and Adam Bradley. All in all a good morning of rugby with the team showing promising progress.

Pace men too hot to handle

Two tries could not prevent Boston U10s slipping to a double 6-1 defeat at Cleethorpes on Sunday.
Reece Harris and Tom Balderstone went over for Boston, Harris touching down in the team’s first game following a scrum close to the Cleethorpes line and Balderstone wriggling over late in the second after taking on the home defence.
There was some good work from Fraser Allen and Jack Bell, both of whom carried the ball manfully, and good runs from Bell and scrum half Gwion Joyce were only denied by last-minute tackles in the corner by the Cleethorpes covering defence, but time and again the Boston line was breached by the pacy home backs.
The Boston boys need to step up their defensive work if their enthusiasm and efforts are to be rewarded.
