Boston 17 Belper 5

Good early pressure from the Boston pack kept Belper pinned back inside their own twenty-two metre line in the opening minutes of the game.
Belper managed to kick penalties back into the Boston half reversing the pressure. Boston found themselves stuck in their own half with long spells of attacking from Belper, however Boston held their nerve and managed to defend their line well, keeping them from scoring.
Despite decisions going against them, Boston kept the defence up and their attacking started to improve. Captain Liam Smith capitalised on penalties conceded by Belper and pinned them back into their half with good kicks to touch. Bit 22 minutes into the game Smith had to be taken off because of a serious injury to his knee. The resulting reshuffle in the Boston line brought Andrew Houldershaw on and Jack Ridge moved to fly half from open-side flanker. Boston kept there heads held high and Jack Ridge got Boston out of their own half with a good penalty kick to touch. After good play Boston were on a high but could not break the deadlock and the half ended 0-0.
Belper kicked off the second half and with a good catch from Dave Lawe. Reggie Isaac bossed the forwards and orchestrated a couple of pick and goes to gain some vital ground. Belper managed to regain possession, but Boston kept up the defence and managed to pressure the Belper back line into making mistakes, giving Boston possession of the ball.
Boston kept charging forward and managed to get twenty metres from Belper's try line. Isaac passed the ball out the Ruck who in turn found Jack Ridge and a good pass to speed man Travis Cross allowed him to run in an impressive try in the corner.
Ridge managed to convert the difficult kick to make it 7-0 Boston.
A Boston mistake following the restart gave Belper possession inside the Boston half and good running from the Belper number 13 and poor tackling from Boston allowed Belper to run in a try near enough under the posts.
This however wasn't converted keeping Boston just in front, 7-5.
Boston restarted and pinned Belper back, not allowing them to go anywhere. With good will power from Alex Kemp, Boston battled on into Belper's half. Isaac got the ball out from a ruck close to the Belper line and Ridge ran in a great individual try. With the conversion missed Boston’s lead was now 12-5.
After Belper restarted their heads were down and Boston were ready to score more, and they did. With a good drive from Alex Kemp, Boston scored for the third time, 17-5 Boston.
A decent performance from Boston, especially during the second half, despite missing their two key centres. Lawe, the second row forward, was deservedly given West End Cinema man of the match.
