Boston Development XV 24 Market Deeping Seconds 17

With the Firsts scheduled league game against Barton and District postponed late in the week, due to Barton not being able to field a team, the Development side took centre stage at the Broadsides.
In a scrappy and at time fractious match, a combined First and Development side, defeated Market Deeping, whose mix of veteran players would prove to be a handful.
In an uneventful first half, where Deepings direct running and passing was met by robust Boston defence the highlight and first score of the game was made by winger Liam Smith.
A break and back hand off load by Smith to centre Jordan Cleaver, saw Cleaver cross the line to move Boston into a 5 points to nil lead. Deepings through their backs equalised midway through the half to enter half time 5 points all.
The second period would prove to be more of a spectacle for the home supporters and a points frenzy. Whatever was said at half time, proved to have a galvanising affect on the team.
Straight from the kick off, number eight Richard Justice, broke from his own twenty two, to run the length of the field to score. Minutes later an incisive line break from Jason Pedbury, playing in the unaccustomed position of centre, was distributed through the backs and Richard Linnell finished off a flowing move to score under the posts. The conversion by fly half Macpherson moved Boston into a 17 – 5 lead.
Deeping pulled one try back, to reduce the deficit 17 – 12, before Richard Justice scored his second try to secure the win for the blue and whites. In a repeat of the last try Jason Pedbury broke free, this time ably supported by centre colleague Matt Sharman, who supplied the final pass to enable Justice to score. The conversion by Macpherson rounded off a hard fought win for the side. Next week the team entertain Gainsborough at home, kick off 2.15pm.
The first team return to league action, travelling to Oakham in a rearranged league game, which last time was cancelled due to snow.
